Rhosneigr Guide
Rhosneigr cottages with hot tubs offer the perfect base for exploring this stunning corner of Anglesey. The village sits on the island's western coast with two fantastic beaches - Traeth Crigyll and Traeth Llydan - both popular with water sports enthusiasts.
The area boasts several top attractions including Anglesey Sea Zoo (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor) and South Stack Lighthouse (4.8/5). RAF Valley is nearby, where Prince William was stationed as a search and rescue pilot between 2010-2013, often spotted in local shops.
Cottage accommodation ranges from cosy one-bedroom properties perfect for couples to large group houses sleeping 10+. Many feature private gardens where you can enjoy your hot tub whatever the weather.
Self-catering gives you freedom to explore at your own pace, with excellent local restaurants when you don't fancy cooking. The hot tubs provide that extra touch of luxury after a day exploring Anglesey's coastline.

Sightseeing
Rhosneigr sits in a prime spot for exploring Anglesey's best bits. The village itself has two gorgeous beaches that draw visitors year-round. Water sports fans love it here - the conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing are among the best in Wales.
Just 20 minutes away, Newborough Beach and Forest (LL61 6SG) offers a completely different coastal experience. The forest trails lead to Llanddwyn Island with its historic lighthouse and stunning mountain views. It scores 4.8/5 on TripAdvisor and opens daily from 8am until sunset.
History buffs should visit Beaumaris Castle (LL58 8AP, 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor). This unfinished masterpiece is considered technically perfect by castle experts. It's open 10am-5pm daily between March and October, with reduced winter hours.
For something different, Anglesey Sea Zoo (LL61 6TQ) showcases marine life found around Welsh shores. Kids love the interactive rockpool experiences. It scores 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and opens 10am-4:30pm most days.
Pet Friendly
Dogs absolutely love Rhosneigr! Between October and April, they can run free on both main beaches. During summer months, Traeth Crigyll has some restrictions but Traeth Llydan remains dog-friendly year-round.
Many local eateries welcome dogs. The Oyster Catcher (LL64 5JP) has a dedicated dog-friendly section in their restaurant plus outdoor seating with water bowls. Their staff even keep treats behind the bar!
Sandy Mount House (LL64 5UX) also welcomes dogs in their bar area. I've found their staff particularly accommodating to four-legged guests.
When booking your hot tub cottage, check the pet policy carefully. Many properties welcome dogs but have specific rules about hot tub use when bringing pets. Some charge a small additional cleaning fee.
Top 3 attractions you have to see in Rhosneigr
Rhosneigr Beach has to top the list. This Blue Flag beach offers something for everyone. The northern end (Traeth Crigyll) is more sheltered and family-friendly while the southern stretch (Traeth Llydan) attracts water sports enthusiasts. The beach has toilet facilities and several access points. We recommend visiting early morning when you might have it almost to yourself - perfect for a peaceful walk before returning to your cottage for breakfast and a dip in the hot tub.
Anglesey Circuit (LL63 5TF) sits just 15 minutes from Rhosneigr. This professional race track hosts major motorsport events but also offers track days where visitors can drive their own cars or motorbikes at speed. They even run supercar experiences if you fancy trying a Lamborghini or Ferrari. One visitor wrote: "Brilliant day out even if you're not massively into cars. The sound alone is worth experiencing!"
Holyhead Mountain and South Stack Lighthouse (LL65 1YH) might be 25 minutes' drive away but they're absolutely worth it. The mountain walk offers spectacular views across to Snowdonia and Ireland on clear days. The lighthouse sits dramatically on a tiny island accessed by 400 steps - not for the faint-hearted but the views are incredible. The RSPB reserve here is excellent for birdwatching with puffins visible in summer months.
Is Rhosneigr good for water sports?
Yes! Rhosneigr is one of the UK's top spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The consistent winds and relatively shallow waters create ideal conditions. Several local companies offer equipment hire and lessons for beginners.
Where can I eat in Rhosneigr?
Despite being small, Rhosneigr has excellent dining options. Sandy Mount House offers upscale dining, The Oyster Catcher serves great gastropub food and Mojo's Creperie is perfect for breakfast or lunch. There's also a good Chinese takeaway and fish and chip shop.
Can I get around without a car?
It's possible but challenging. Rhosneigr has a train station with connections to Holyhead and the mainland. Local buses are limited. Most visitors find a car essential for exploring Anglesey properly.
When is the best time to visit?
May to September offers the best weather, but accommodation prices peak in July/August. June and September provide a good balance of decent weather and lower prices. Winter visits can be atmospheric - imagine storm watching from your hot tub!
Are there any good walks nearby?
The Anglesey Coastal Path passes through Rhosneigr offering stunning walks in both directions. The section to Aberffraw (about 5 miles) is particularly beautiful and relatively flat.
Is there a supermarket in Rhosneigr?
There's a Spar shop in the village for essentials. For a bigger shop, Tesco and Morrisons are available in Holyhead (15 minutes' drive) or there's a large Tesco in Bangor (30 minutes away).
