What "luxury" means on Anglesey

The label gets used loosely. In our listings it picks out cottages with a higher standard of finish and fittings, but there is no inspection scheme behind it, so read the cottage page. Features that tend to go with a luxury Anglesey cottage:

  • a hot tub that is private, heated and easy to reach from the house (check whether it is wood-fired or electric);
  • good beds, a large kitchen and, often, a second bathroom;

What luxury self catering in Anglesey costs

The big houses that sleep a dozen or more cost much more, but split between a group the cost per head can be lower than a hotel; the large group cottages page has a cost splitter.

Prices swing with the season: school holidays, Christmas and New Year are the dearest, while January to March is the best value. Book early for peak dates.

What to check before you book

  1. Who the hot tub is for. Private, shared with other cottages, and how many it seats.
  2. How it is heated. Wood-fired tubs are atmospheric but take hours to heat; electric ones are ready on arrival.
  3. Arrival and departure times. Some luxury houses have a longer changeover.
  4. The small print. Minimum stays, damage deposits and pet charges.
  5. The reviews. Recent guest reviews on the cottage page tell you more than the label.

Luxury hot tub cottages: quick answers

Do luxury cottages always have a private hot tub?

Most do, but check the cottage page. Look at whether it is private, how many it seats and whether it is heated by wood or electricity.

Where are the best luxury cottages in Anglesey?

It depends on the setting you want. Beaumaris and Menai Bridge face the Strait and the mountains, Rhosneigr and Trearddur Bay are on sandy west coast bays, and Cemaes Bay is the quiet choice on the north coast.

When is the cheapest time for a luxury break?

January to March is usually best value. Weeks in school holidays, Christmas and New Year cost the most.
