Fishermans Cottage, Malltraeth

The cottage was lovely, very spacious with all facilities we needed, except a washing line. It would be really useful to be able to hang towels up outside to dry. Good location to explore the island. A few more examples of where to eat or get a takeaway would be helpful. We had a takeaway from Bella Bella which was really nice. This was our first visit to the island and we will definitely be back and would consider staying here again. My only criticism would be the bed in the first double room at top of stairs was not very comfortable at all. Lovely welcome basket left for us which was a nice touch. We had a really lovely week at Fishermans cottage.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, nearly perfect for my family and 2 dogs. A perfect base for visiting Anglesey and what beautiful surroundings on the doorstep. The cottage had everything you needed, lovely little welcome pack too which was very much appreciated

Cottage was lovely, put we paid extra for the hot tub which wasnt on and we wasnt give the code for the lock. When we put it on and went in it was dirty around the sides. I made several calls regarding this put the property manager was rude. No security lights and having taking elderly parents it wasnt good. Weeds growing around the closed front door and grass need cutting.

The cottage itself and location are lovely and we enjoyed our stay. However, on arrival it was as though we weren't expected. There were no basic essentials including toilet roll, washing up liquid, tea towel. This is shocking in a small village with only 1 shop that closes at 8pm. There was also no power. After phoning for help but being cut off due to lack of reception, we managed to find the fuse box and get power back. It had been off for some time as there was no heating property was 11 when we arrived late evening and there was a 1 pint bottle of milk that was 4 weeks past its best before date bulging to the point of explosion in the warm fridge. Online reviews had praised being 'welcomed with fresh bread and treats' but we found only an empty wicker tray where it looked like these should be. Really shocked at such a poor welcome when the house itself is so beautiful.

All in all we had an ok week. The cottage is a bit more isolated than we were led to believe, and as we arrived in the dark the instructions on accessing the location werent great. A few days before arriving we checked the small print and realised we had to pay an additional 200 to what we had already paid 1700 approx to use the hot tub, I thought this was pretty cheeky this should be made clearer at booking and also dont put pics of the hot tub on the gallery or advertise it in house description if it isnt included in the holiday price. The house itself was ok, there was a little gift basket on arrival which was nice. But if you want to do some cooking you will struggle, there were no condiments at all or a sponge to clean the kitchen! Weve stayed in quite a few cottages with Sykes and you at least expect some salt and pepper and olive oil to cook with! I dont expect to come away for a week and do a full shop! Maybe its just me. On top of that the knives are all blunt and there is no whisk or grater. We arrived fairly late on our first night and couldnt close the blind in one bedroom it was broken or the velux blind in the other bedroom, I was surprised that they were left like this and it hadnt been noticed? Odd. In fairness someone did come to fix this the next day, but it meant there was no natural light in the bedrooms for the rest of the week! All in all, it was ok but we wouldnt book again.

We loved it! The house is spotless and a great size. Malltraeth has been a good base for exploring Anglesey. We can recommend the Pen Cob walk, Newborough Forest and beach, and Benllech bay, Well be back! XX

3rd time weve stayed so obviously we enjoy it. Excellent location with generally well equipped kitchen. Beds are comfortable & bedrooms light & airy. Nice big car park adjacent to the property & it has a large, secure garden ideal for our two dogs. A couple of minor niggles were that the resident vacuum cleaner, whilst very good was completely blocked so we had to dismantle it & clean the filter. Other peoples muck, yuck! Secondly, some of the crockery & glassware could do with topping up & several that were there were dirty & needed washing before use. Dont let the above detract from the place, theyre very minor & the vacuum cleaner now works like new. We hope to brave the winter weather & visit again early in the new year, all things being equal.

The cottage is in need of redecoration. The paintwork on stairs etc needs redoing. The hot tub was dirty with quite a lot of sand in it. For the extra 300 I think it should be drained and cleaned after each guest. The cushions were very dirty. Toilet brush needs replacing. Otherwise the cottage had everything we needed. Its in a lovely area very peaceful.

We loved fishermans cottage. We are extremely familiar with Anglesey and this has been one of our favorite stays. Lovely spacious house which is very well equipped for a family stay. Clean and cosy. The garden is secure for dogs and the hot tub was a great addition. Beds were super comfy and the kitchen so spacious. Malltraeth is beautiful and with Newborough close by there so much to explore. We are at the oyster catcher one evening which was lovely, spent days on cable bay great sheltered beach for kids. The little shop in the village and the pub are really handy too and everyone very friendly. The dogs had the most amazing time swimming and exploring. The only slight grumbles would be that the baby gate was broken this would have been useful for stopping curious dogs go up stairs instead we put the washing maiden in front of the door. Or for anyone with a baby or toddler. The hoover and dryer were not wonderful and with sandy children and dogs we needed to use both. The outdoor bins were over flowing too which wasnt ideal and no clear recycling system. Otherwise a really great stay and would absolutely recommend.

A lovely property in a great spot to explore the island. Very well equipped especially in the kitchen. A shame the cot was broken and we had to ask the cleaner for it as one hadn't been left fortunate we saw the cleaners. Hot tub a great extra and definitely worth paying the extra a shame it took us 2 days of chasing to get the code before our holiday. Customer service needs sorting if we're going to use Sykes again.

Wonderful stay, the house is excellent. Daily walks with Mollie, our chocolate lab were fab! Stunning views everywhere we went. Already planning another trip.

Third stay in the cottage very comfortable, great location & loads of parking space. Booked again for September, can't say more than that!

Loved the cottage, was a little surprised how rural it was but so much beauty and peace! !! The beaches we visited were gorgeous and the weather was very kind. Our two dogs had their best time walking and swimming each day. The pub next door didnt serve bar meals and the local fish and chips did not have a good reputation but the kitchen in the cottage was very well equipped so we ate in each day. All in all a lovely stay. We would love to return to the same cottage again soon!

The house is lovely and very relaxing. The hot tub is great fun. This house has everything for a lovely stay. There were loads of opportunities for nice walks and we would definitely consider coming back.

We spent a fantastic Christmas here. A beautiful and spacious home with lots of great touches. Peaceful location and plenty of great walks and beaches nearby. The pub next door was super friendly and the hot tub was a massive bonus! Christmas Day in the hot tub was special! We'll definitely be back! X

A group of 5 girls went away for a break. We had a lovely stay even though the weather was definitely not good. We thought that it would have been nice to have some sort of lighting with the hot tub as it was dark by the time we got settled into the cottage. Also there was only one small light in the lounge apart from the full brightness of the ceiling lights. We had to bring our bedroom lights down when we watched a movie. One of the ovens functions does not work, it is the left hand side dials on the fan and there wasnt any instructions for the oven. No recycle bin only a general rubbish bin. Not enough coat hangers. Would have preferred two more proper chairs at the kitchen table instead of a bench, we sat in the kitchen quite a lot

This cottage is absolutely beautiful, Id move here if I could. They went above and beyond with little touches for our stay, the locals are friendly the scenes are beautiful. We would definitely come back

The property is in a lovely area, ideal for bird watching or seeing the many historical sites on Anglesey, however the location is spoilt by being right next to a pub and a nearby property with howling dogs, making it very noisy at times. Inside there is plenty of space and most things that you would need during your stay, augmented by a welcome basket of useful goodies. Our main issue was with the bath on the top floor. This is a standout feature when compared to other properties and one of reasons we picked this property. Unfortunately when my wife tried to use the bath it moved as she tried to get in, so she tried to get out immediately and it moved again, almost causing her to slip and fall. As the bath moved it also caused a leak, which we moped up quickly with a towel. On inspection it was obvious that the bath is not fasted to the floor and can be moved easily with one hand. This is dangerous and it was only luck that she didnt badly hurt herself. The bath should be properly secured, or if this is the way it is supposed to be, then a warning sign should be provided to prevent further incidents. We informed Sykes Cottages about this and somebody came to the property while we were out, but they didnt secure the bath or provide any further information, so the bath was not usable during our stay. Furthermore The advertisement states the property has Netflix, which it does, but although it was possible to log into the guest account, whenever we selected a programme to watch, it would exit from Netflix and go back to the TV, so it was unusable. The DVD player is not connected to the TV, so couldnt be used and the batteries in the remote seemed to have corroded. The sofa is not very comfortable as the springs seem to have gone saggy Overall, I wouldnt recommend the property to friends, and do not think it was good value given the above problems. We await your response to the above.
